The templates below are intended as a starting point for creating your own visuals. There are several examples here, sized for commonly used devices and situations, each with its own tab on the bottom of the page. You are welcome to print the examples, or to edit the templates in your copy of this document. You can follow these instructions (or watch this video --note: video to be revised) to use the templates...
To access the templates, use the following links:
Here are the directions:
Make a copy
- Each of these links will require you to make a copy. Click on the desired link and say “yes” when asked to make a copy. This new file will be placed into your drive and you will now be able to edit it.
Adding/Replacing Text
- Click into the box that says “place images and text here”
- Replace the text with the phrase you would like displayed
Adding an Image
- Clicking on “insert” in the toolbar
- Select “image”
- Click “Search” in the window that pops up. This will bring you to a Google search of images which are designated as free for public use. (Or select LIFE or stock images if you want to search their libraries)
- Type what word(s) you are looking for (You may need to be creative in your search terms to find the image you want, but should eventually be able to find it)
NOTE: Clicking on the drop down menu under the word Google in the results allows to filter by type of image. If you are looking for clip art, line drawing, etc. - Click the image you would like, and click “Select” in the bottom left of the window.
- The image will appear in your Google Sheet, likely larger than you would like. Pull the corners of the image box to resize and simply drag and drop to where you would like it.
- Although using the web option is likely to be the most effective, you can also choose to upload an image from your computer or Drive or use your built in camera to take a photo by selecting a different option at the top of the window.
Additional Notes
- You can use the tools in Sheets you normally would to change fonts, sizes, borders, colors, etc.
- To resize a column or row, click on the number or letter heading and select “resize”. You can then enter a number of Pixels to set the size. A setting of 96 Pixels is equal to 1 inch.
- When printing the documents be sure to select “Actual Size” in the print options, NOT “fit to width”
